Encaustic paintings are very durable but should not be hung in direct sunlight. Do not expose wax paintings to extreme heat. Freezing or rough handling can cause damage, so pack securely when storing and insulate when shipping. Protect the surface with parchment paper, tissue, or glassine.
If the painting appears hazy or cloudy, gently buff with a microfibre cloth to restore shine. This “bloom” is a normal part of the curing process and will lessen over time.
Always buff the painting when it is cool so as to not scratch the surface.
